Bird's Stonefly, Pattern Number Two
A classic nymph pattern from Cal Bird , but I've done some "tweaking". I never seem to have enough of these on hand...my friends keep bumming them. This stonefly nymph is best in June and July ; fish it on a dead drift but let it "swing" at the end. The big guys will hit it hard at the end. Size 10 is my favorite, but a size 8 is good early, and number 12. later.
